Sub Parishes And Catechists
Mityana Cathedral Parish has 17 sub parishes which are located in different places and
each of these is led by
a catechist. These sub parishes are: St Noah Kiyinda, Christ the king Busimbi, St. Matia Mulumba Butega,
St. Noah Bukanaga, St. John Mary Muzeeyi Kito, St. Jude Kitinkolola, Maria Assumpta Kiweesa, St. Kizito Kikumbi,
St. Joseph Nambute, St. Kizito Kunywa, St. Luke Banabakintu Nakibanga, Holy Trinity Namukozi, St. Kizito Kibanyi,
St. Noa Kisule, St. Paul Namizingole, St. Noah Lubanja and St. Matia Mulumba Gayaaza -Kijjudde.
Carmelite Sisters Convent
The convent was built during the same time the parish church was built. The first sisters came from Germany.
It is a monastery for discalced(enclosed) nuns who live a contemplative life. Main activities: prayer and sacrifice,
making hosts, vestments, church linen and gardening. The sisters also established community based projects like;
HOSFA (Hope Sharing Family), Support for orphans, aged AIDS victims, St. Fancis Health Center, St. Theresa Vocational
School, Zigoti and St. Theresa Senior Secondary School.
St. Luke Sisters' Convent
This accomodates the sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix(Gogonya).
Some work at St. Luke Health Center, Kiyinda and one is the cathedral sacristan. St. Luke
Health center was built near the parish church to serve the health needs of the local community.
Currently it provides medical services to: outpatients, inpatients maternity care, dental care, TV scan,
HIV test and counselling.
St. Charles Lwanga Bannakaroli Brothers' House
It accomodates the Bannakalori Brothers who run the diocesan carpentry workshop. The workshop makes furniture for
church projects as well as for sale to the community. The brothers also train some youth in carpentary and joinery skills
St. Matia Mulumba Catechetical Formation Centre
This is a Diocesan institute for training cathechists from different dioceses, especially in Kampala Ecclesiastical
Province. It has a teaching staff of 5 priests and 3 lay teachers.
